Leaning and Broken Posts
Posts rotted at ground level or snapped by wind are dug out and replaced, then the panel is re-fixed.
Fence repairs Wagga Wagga property owners call us about usually come after a storm, a reversing car or a slow lean that finally became obvious. The good news is that a fence often fails at one or two points, and fixing those can add years to the rest of the run.
We repair timber, Colorbond, aluminium, pool barrier and wire fences, as well as gates that drag, drop or will not latch.

Posts rotted at ground level or snapped by wind are dug out and replaced, then the panel is re-fixed.

Sections pushed over or peeled back by wind are made safe, then rebuilt with matched materials.

Dented steel sheets, bent rails and crushed posts replaced bay by bay. We can provide a written quote for insurers.

Dropped gates re-braced, hinges replaced, latches realigned and drag on the ground fixed.
Individual palings, rails or posts can be swapped. New timber will look brighter until it weathers or is stained to match.
Damaged sheets and rails slide out and are replaced. Older colours may have faded, so a new sheet can look slightly different at first.
Bent panels and loose spigots are replaced, and pool gates are re-adjusted to self-close and self-latch.
Cut or sagging wire is joined and re-tensioned, and failed strainers are rebuilt so the line holds.
A repair should blend in as closely as possible. Here is what to expect for each material.
| Finish | Characteristics | Typical applications | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weathered timber palings | Grey, aged surface on existing boards. | Spot repairs on older paling fences. | New boards start pale; a stain on the whole fence evens out the difference. |
| Faded Colorbond sheets | Colour softened by years of sun. | Replacing one or two damaged bays. | Even the same named colour can look fresher next to a sheet that has seen many summers. |
| Discontinued profiles | Older sheet or slat shapes no longer made. | Fences built decades ago. | We look for the closest current profile, or suggest replacing a full section for a cleaner result. |
| Galvanised wire and mesh | Dull grey zinc coating. | Rural and commercial fence repairs. | New wire is shinier for a while but dulls naturally without any treatment. |
We look at the whole run, not just the broken bit, before recommending a repair.
One rotten post is a repair. Most posts rotting at the same depth means the rest will follow soon.
An old fence near the end of its life may not be worth repairing beyond a quick safety fix.
Pool barriers and gates protecting children or stock are fixed as a priority.
Repairs to a dividing fence can also be shared with your neighbour under NSW dividing fence law.

Damaged parts are removed and replaced, posts are re-concreted and panels re-fixed.

Most repair jobs come down to a handful of parts that wear or break first.
Rotten timber posts swapped for H4 treated or steel posts with fresh concrete.
Split timber rails and bent steel rails replaced so panels sit straight.
Worn hinges and misaligned latches replaced, with pool gates set to the required closing action.
Rusted nails and loose screws replaced with galvanised or stainless fixings.

A summer storm snapped two posts on a timber fence. The rest of the run is sound, so only the failed bays need rebuilding.

A timber side gate has dropped and drags on the concrete. It needs re-bracing and new hinges.

If most posts are rotted at the base, if a fence is leaning along its whole length, or if the materials can no longer be matched, a repair will only buy a short time. We will say so and price a replacement alongside the repair so you can choose.
We will not patch a pool barrier with parts that make it less safe, and we will not cut into fibro sheeting that may contain asbestos.
